Key West Vacation Day 1

We left at 5 a.m. for our 7 hour drive down to Key West. We stopped at Everglades National Park on our way down to stretch our legs. It was pouring down rain, and the mosquitos were awful but we still had a nice time, and saw several alligators. We also saw some birds at the top of a palm tree airing out thier wings.

We then headed down to the Keys. It had been raining off and on most of the trip and Nick wasn't looking forward to doing the bridges in the rain, but luckily it held off while we were driving. We stopped again in Islamorada at Theater of the Sea. We saw all kinds of marine animals and several shows including a sea lion show, and a dolphin show.

Daddy and Sage at the Sea Lion show

Nick and the older girls took a boat ride while I was feeding the baby. If you look you can see that in the middle of the boat a dolphin's head is popped up. The middle of the boat was open and the dolphins swam in the middle and did tricks right in front of everyone.

The girls and daddy watching feeding time in the fish pool. Can you tell it had been raining?

The Dolphin show

Avery was picked to be "kissed" by a dolphin. She marched rigth down the front and bent down on the dock and stuck her head out and the dlphin jumped up and "kissed" her.

This isn't the best picture, I took a picture of a picture, but you can see how happy Avery was to be "kissed".

We left the Theater of the Sea and drove the rest of the way down to Key West. It was cloudy the whole way but it didn't rain, which was a good thing. When we arrived at our hotel and took our stuff in we walked the few blocks down the end of the street to see the ocean before bed.

The End of day one
