Sandhill cranes

We have some "pet" Sandhill cranes. On Saturday they were in our front yard and the girls came and got us and we took bread outside for them. They gobbled it right up. So on Monday I was sitting in the livingroom and I heard them "calling" from the front yard. I am pretty sure they were calling for food. As soon as we went outside they came walking over looking for more bread........so of course we gave it to them. Funny birds. There are 2 adults and babies.

Bowling

On Friday night after school Avery told me that her new friend Callie wanted her to go bowling. So her mommy (a friend of mine from MOPS) called when we got home with the details, and we went bowling. The girls had a great time.

Where are you?

"Where are you" was the title of the sermon on Sunday. Pastor Mark spoke about knowing where you are on your Christian walk. If someone calls you up and says how to I get to where you are", your first response will be "where are you", because you need to know where that person is starting from. It's the same way with us in our walk to Christ. We need to know where we are starting from to know how to get where we are going.

Explorer-
You will seek me and fine me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Exlporers are looking for something they just don't know what. They know something "bigger than them" is out there, and they have a desire to fine that something/one.

Things to help them:
Go to church
Join a small group
Read the bible

Jesus answered "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Christ is asked into their hearts and they are baptised.

New Christian-
You are new in your walk with Christ

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. 2 Corintians 5:17

This step can be overwhelming so..........
Set small reasonable goals
Baby steps-one small step at a time (What about Bob? clip)

Growing Christians-
These people have been Christians for awhile but need to be constantly renewed in their walk with Christ.

"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:10-11

Like the tablets that you can buy as a kids that you put in water and they grow 6X's there original size, we as growing Chrisitans must constantly be growing. Once we are removed or turn away from Christ we can shrink back to our original starting point.

Surrendering Christian-
Then he said to teh crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hand on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. Luke 9:23-24

So where are you?

Avery's first day of kindergarten

This is Avery's teacher Mrs. Smith. The picture was taken on the night of orientation.

This is Avery all dressed and ready for her first day of kindergarten. She was so excited. I am really happy for her. I hope she loves school as much as I did.
On that note school has been canceled on Tues and Wed due to Tropical Storm Fay, so one day into school and she has two days off.......lol

Tropical Storm Fay

Imagine from tbo.com our local news channel. We are a little east of the current path.

What moves you?

At church yesterday Mark preached on Compassion.

1. Compassion cares
-Matthew 9:35-38
2. Compassion heals
-Matthew 14:13-14
Compassion Feeds
-Matthew 15:32-39

Other scriptures
-Proverbs 14:31
-Proverbs 21:13
-Isaiah 58:10
-1John 3:17
-Proverbs 31:8-9

He also talked about "adopting" a child through Compassion international ( http://www.compassion.com/default.htm ) an organization that is over 50 yrs old that helps children in need all over the world for just $32 a month. We are looking into "adopting" our own child soon. I think we are going to let Avery pick out who she wants to help. Then we can send that child letters, and they can write us back etc... I think it will be a great learning experiance for Avery as well as help someone who trully needs it for about what it costs us to go to McDonald's. Seriously who can turn that down.

Starting school

I can't belive Avery is starting kindergarten, she's way too grown up. We keep telling her that we aren't going to let her turn 6, but she insists.....lol We went to Hillcrest (her new school) last night for orientation. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Smith. We got her school t-shirts, put money in her cafeteria account and got her "car rider" number. So it's official she starts on Monday, and she's counting the days. :) She also started dance again for the year. She is taking Musical Theater, and Combo II which is jazz, and Tap.

I think I'm going to have to take Sage to the park or someplace fun on Monday so she won't feel like she's being left out of something exciting. She started gymnastics 2 wks ago and she loves going.

Awana, and MOPS start up in September and once again I am back to driving kids to all their activities, I can't imagine what's it's going to be like in a few years when I have 3 in school.

Capri's new gdiapers

I got Capri some new gdiapers, which are cloth diapers with an option of a flushable insert or a cloth insert, we are using a mix of both right now. I hope to say goodbye to disposables.

Classic Sage....I had told her no about something so she was pouting, but still wanted to hold the baby.
